FRANKIE

We are so excited to see Oh Deer Vintage in the pages of Frankie Magazine! We've been included in the relatively new shop directory section, which has featured some of the most impressive and inspiring stores in Australia, we are so very humbled to be included :)

I've been a fond reader of Frankie for years now, it's one of the only magazines I read religiously. It's always such a happy day when it arrives in the mail, and I can sit down for a quiet hour or two with a hot cuppa and just get lost in it's beautiful photography, witty & enlightening stories, and become ever-so inspired by all the hand-made crafty and fashion goodness! Not to mention the clean and perfect layout that is generous with white space, it's such a calm & pleasant read. So it really is surreal for our little store to be inside the pages of Frankie Magazine.

FILM

I invited my lovely friend Jess came along to shoot with us, unfortunately her film camera died on the day, but luckily I had my trusty old film camera along with me, so she shot these beautiful photographs. It was really nice to have someone shooting different angles to me as she often captured a perfect moment which I had missed. You can follow Jess's blog PERCY DICKENS.

These photos have inspired me to dust off my old pentax and get back into shooting in film! I love the depth, colour and grain that are produced. I may just start my own personal blog where I can share my film photos... stay tuned.

SAIL AWAY

So if you happened to read our last blog entry, you would have seen a bunch of lovely yet silly behind the scenes photographs from our outdoor photoshoot that didn't quite go to plan!

However, we did happen to get a few lovely and planned shots, whimsical themed with some dainty genuine vintage pieces; Gina wears a beautiful 1960's Ivory silk dress with lace detailing, which looks as though it may have been a wedding dress (it will be available in our top shelf vintage section soon!) coupled with some amazing maroon suede and leather lace-up brogue boots. Merrin wears a nude lace slip with a high-waist white pleated skirt (available here) along with teal suede wedges (in store soon).

Upon reflection it was such a beautiful afternoon & we got to soak in the serenity of it all while the sun went down casting some really lovely afternoon light. With no else in sight, it really did feel as though we had stepped back in time, like we were on a deserted island.

SERENDIPITY

Earlier this week we set off to do an outdoor editorial style photoshoot & lookbook for Spring. I was proud of myself for being so prepared this time around, a lovely friend of mine helped to style and organise all outfits, we sourced reference photographs, had an amazing location in mind, and above all we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather with a lovely partly cloudy sky, still wind and perfect temperatures.

The location we had in mind fell through due to unforeseen circumstances, and we spent over five hours of the day driving, only to end up 15 minutes from our home town, at a beautiful location, Norah Head Lighthouse. But By this time we were all quite delirious and unsettled from the car ride and couldn't quite shake it off. Outfit ensembles & direction out the window; instead we had a playful carefree afternoon of rolling around on grassy hills, and just enjoying the sunset and company of our friends.

You can make plans and be well prepared, but sometimes the day just doesn't quite end out the way you pictured it. It was a great spell of spontaneity to remind us not to take life so seriously!

So here are some silly billy photos from our day that wasn't quite as planned...
