BRIGHT STAR

So upon taking a relaxing evening to myself & watching the movie, Bright Star, for what could quite possibly be the twentieth time, I thought I would share it, or rather Mr. Keats with you all.

Ben Whishaw (aka Mr Keats) would have to be my new dream man, second to Jim Sturgess... there must be something about dark & handsome Englishmen. If you haven't yet, I highly suggest you watch Bright Star, it's such a beautiful movie, with stunning cinematography. Ben Whishaw stars alongside Abbie Cornish (who happens to be one of my favourite Australian actresses) in a film based on the life of the poet, John Keats, set in the early 1800's.

And if I haven't convinced you to watch it yet.. then here's some eye candy that may do just that...

BATHERS

Summer is finally here! We've had this super cute collection of vintage bathers patiently hanging in our studio since Winter, so today we finally got to shoot & upload them to the store. It's always so exciting when we hand-pick our stock for the store, but then it's another level of excitement when we shoot them, finally seeing them being worn, and don't they just look oh-so-cute on our stunning new model Ellie? We think so! Here's a preview of some of our favourites;

*Please Note: These bathers are vintage & may show slight signs of wear. All pieces have been selected with only the best quality & condition in mind, and have been cleaned. Some Pieces are vintage deadstock, meaning never they have never been warn. Undergarments were worn when photographed.

ON THE ROAD

Introducing Sanoii + Six's SS11/12 Collection - On the Road

On the Road is an ode to dreamy summer road trips with old friends. Sanoii + Six worked with the ever talented illustrator Emma Leonard on their custom print, which features a whimsical female figure amongst a mountainous landscape with a galloping horse, hand printed by screenhaus on a wonderful pastel blue fabric.

Not only are all these pieces all delightful on their own, but they are perfect for pairing & layering with eachother! The sheer silk blend Tell it to Sweeney Blouse is a must have this season, it is perfect for layering underneath practically anything, but also wonderful on it's own as a light summer blouse, or paired with the Big Cheese Skirt, which personally is my favourite look of this collection ♥

And don't even get me started on the Heebie Jeebie Crop, with a cute frill layer, and a perfect circular cut out at the back, gosh.. I could spend all day telling you what I love about each piece of this range, but I suggest you take a look for yourself;

They also had some talented folk along for the lookbook photoshoot, Dane Howell and Nick Sullivan captured and edited a beautiful behind the scenes clip of our new range and current obsession, view the video below!

the bikini styles are also available for sale as seperates!

THE VILLAGE MARKETS

We were lucky enough to score the sunniest day of the week for our pop-up stall at The Village Markets on the Gold Coast. It was really fun taking Oh Deer on the road for the first time! Michael, being a road veteran from previously driving all over Australia with his band, was excited to show me the journey & point out the sights.

The Village Markets were celebrating their third birthday, with thunder storms the night before & the day after we all were so lucky to have a perfect sunny day, not a cloud in the sky! The markets are set out in two parallel rows, with over 50 stalls on either side facing each other, a mixture of vintage & designer, arts & crafts. On a large flat school oval, it's a nice and spacious set up. The atmosphere was relaxed, with live acoustic artists & lots of people getting around in their bathers, after a dip in the ocean (which is just on the opposite side of the highway). We were allocated a spot about 200 meters from the entrance, with good friend OmDiddyOm Vintage to our left & the lovely Wild Heart Jewellery to our right. It really was so fun being out in the sun & working along side like minded people as well as meeting all the lovely customers! It made our day when a lovely lady stopped in wearing a pair of Oh Deer Denim shorts that we had posted to her only weeks ago :)

Now we've had a taste of outdoor markets we're tempted to plan a tour! We spend most of our time working online so getting out & about is very refreshing :)

Unfortunately we only got a few snaps as we were busy deers but be sure to check out TVM's website or facebook page for more info. We highly suggest a visit if you are on the Gold Coast!

SANGRIA & LACE

We had such an amazing time being part of the Sangria & Lace market & exhibition a few weekends ago. This was the Launch event of Sangria & Lace, which exhibits vintage clothing, fine art, photography, independent music, local designer labels, accessories, craft, short film & more.

The event stemmed from the mind of the wonderful, creative & talented Anna Lina, an idea to create an event that showcases the work of all the local creative & talented people in our hometown. We helped her and a small team to organise the event, and after a few months of those two words being uttered constantly between us, the day finally arrived :)

Thank you to everyone and anyone who visited, donated a pretty penny in exchange for hand-made goods or delicious sangria, or lent a helping hand, you all supported us in one way or another & made this event the huge success that it was!

So here are some photographs of the event taken by Rachel & Emily Merrick. For the full album of photographs from the event find them on the Sangria & Lace facebook page, here.
