GIRL CRUSH

I first stumbled across Karina Nicholson when browsing shopnastygal.com a while back, I was mesmerised by her look, with her perfect pouty lips, tousled hair & natural eyebrows, she is stunning. I found myself adding almost every garment she modelled into my cart, just because she looks so gosh darn cute and effortlessly flawless in them! I couldn't find her name back then, but tonight when I came across a photo online & recognised her, I finally put a name to the face, so I thought I'd share my girl crush with you all;

So for those of you who haven't yet laid eyes on her, prepare to be mesmerised!

BEHIND THE SEAMS - WITH SANOII + SIX

We thought we'd take this chance to properly introduce the two lovely ladies behind the label, Sanoii + Six, Vienna & Sam. It was so kind of them to invite us over to their creative space, for a spot of tea & scones.

Vienna & Sam are two of the nicest people we've had the pleasure of meeting. It is so inspiring to see the creative space where their beautiful pieces come to life. The care & dedication these two put into the construction of each of their pieces is remarkable.

Sam & Vienna are currently putting together their Winter range, Happy Campers, which will include amazing riding pants, sheer smock tunic and the most incredible woolen capes! This modest range will have you dreaming of the snowy wilderness and you will find any excuse to layer up and go traipsing outside!

VINTAGE HUNT

Ask any vintage seller and I'm sure they will tell you that the most exciting part of the job is the hunt, there's nothing like the feeling you get when you find those one-of-a-kind amazing vintage pieces that you just can't get your hands on quick enough!

There was some very tedious work involved in the months of preparing our online store, as we had to photograph, measure, edit and upload almost 600 items before the launch, which means we haven't re-stocked our vintage collection untill now. Last week we sourced a few hundred new pieces, and needless to say, I was just a little bit excited!

I'm usually quite good at detaching myself from our stock, but I'm finding myself in love with so many of these new dresses, and I don't think it is just the excitement of having new stock after months! This latest collection of dresses really reflects my own sense of style and taste; there are so many lovely prints, colours & fabrics. I must say I'll be a little bit hesitant to let some of these dresses go! but the positive feedback we recieve, and knowing they are going to new loving homes makes it all worthwhile :)

Michael also collected some new menswear, which will hit the store later this week! and ladies, just quietly...there's some amazing crochet pieces, oh-so-cute cardigans, jewelery and ankle boots to follow shortly!

So here's a preview of a few of our favourite new dresses! If you like these, be sure to view the current collection in our online boutique at www.ohdeervintage.com, as these are just a small handful of almost 200 that are on sale right now!

THE MISSING PUZZLE PIECE

We've been receiving a lot of lovely compliments about our new online boutique, and in particular the images on our homepage, so I thought I might write a little blog. It turned out to be the part of the website we left until the last minute, accidently. I always knew how I wanted it to look, and in my head thought it would be easy to put together a few images, but it is actually quite hard to create a cohesive little image puzzle like that, especially if you are as pedantic as I am. The colours and tones had to be perfect, and all the images were to be equally as eye-catching as the others. So after jumbling our images around in photoshop, it was all going wonderfully, but there was always something missing. no matter which image I tried to place in the top right hand corner, it just did not seem to fit... I'm not usually one for using other people's images, but whilst searching for inspiration, we stumbled across the missing piece of the puzzle, the perfect image of a set of antlers adorned with vintage jewelery. When we were designing our new branding and boutique we always wanted to keep the image or idea of antlers in it somehow, so we think this is a nice subtle reminder of where we began.
We found the image on a personal photostream, which is filled with equally as inspiring and beautiful photographs by Susanna Erkheikki, of Sweden. Susanna's photostream is a showcase of her day-to-day life, soft toned images that evoke a sense of nostalgia,  many of her humble abode - which is tastefully decorated with vintage art, trinkets & furniture. So we thought we might share a few of our favourite of Susanna's photographs.
